I mean, I typically don’t call sewer gas fresh clean air, but perhaps in this particular situation it would work.

A particularly desperate situation...

It was an idea for an emergency breathing device for people stuck in a high rise fire. You could push the hose past the water trap in the toilet and then breathe “fresh” air from the the vent on the plumbing system.

There is a fresh air vent at the top, but that’s more for letting air out than in.

Not so appealing, given that we put bends in the pipes to avoid breathing sewer fumes...
Also if you are looking for widespread adoption, I’d think people would feel better about breathing through the sink drain, so maybe market the toilet as a backup...

I had a toilet once that was improperly installed, and it was bad enough having that smell in the bathroom, let alone breathe it straight from the source. Desperate times do call for desperate measures, though...

I mean if the options are dying from a fire and smoke inhalation or passing out from inhaling noxious sewer fumes first......
I don’t like these options.
